New Local Produce

Fall is here and with it, a bounty of new local produce. Here’s what’s new this week:

Blood Peaches

A late season heirloom peach with striking red/purple flesh and exception flavor. These are fantastic! Don’t let their appearance fool you.

Autumn Frost

Sweet, nutty winter squash with a smooth, orange flesh and frosty blue-gray skin. Better flavor than a butternut!

Kabocha Squash

A Japanese winter squash with rich, sweet, and nutty flesh, similar to pumpkin or sweet potato.

Japanese Sweet Potatoes

From Kaeb Farm in Saybrook, IL

Also known as Murasaki, these have vibrant purple skin and sweet flesh with a slightly nutty flavor.

This week we have a variety of heirloom zucchini. They are less watery than traditional zucchini with similar flavor profiles.
