Local Farmer Spotlight

The B.S.R.R. Youth Center and Academy Farm, located in Pembroke Township, IL focuses on sustainable agriculture to alleviate poverty in the region.

Diana McDonald, also known as Lady Di, manages the farm and continues the legacy of Joseph “Pap” Tetter, who fled North Carolina before the Civil War with his large family and settled in Pembroke. Today, Pembroke, a predominantly Black community, upholds farming practices centered on sharing knowledge, resilience, and a profound connection to the land. The farm aims to teach these principles to young and aspiring farmers. Wild Onion Market is glad to share their produce with our community.
