Talking Farm Produce

This week we welcome the first batch of hyper-locally grown veggies from The Talking Farm – Skokie’s non-profit urban farm on Howard Street!

French Breakfast Radishes

These culinary delights need very little work to be enjoyed. Slice and eat them raw on salads or with toasted bread and butter. They pair well with fresh herbs and balsamic as well.

Baby Bok Choy

Kissed by the cold weather, these baby greens are sweeter than regular bok choy and do well in a sauté pan over high heat with oil or butter. They’re also perfect for stir fries or charring on a grill.

Deerland Dairy Yogurt

We now have a full lineup of flavors for this fast selling yogurt brand. Deerland Dairy yogurt is made with pasteurized, non-homogenized milk from Jersey cows.

Meet Down River Farm

This week, we’re proud to feature Spinach and Scallions from Evan Barry and his Benson, Illinois farm team. Evan studied under local farming legend Henry Brockman of Henry’s Farm before starting his own endeavor. The team at Down River believes the role of the farmer is to steward the land and grow the most nutrient dense food possible. You won’t find the “certified organic” label on their produce, but Down River is a pesticide free operation.

Local Rhubarb

From Carroll’s Timber Edge Farm in Graymont, Illinois. Owners Chuck and Kathy Carroll believe in the importance of healthy eating and abide by chemical-free regenerative practices on their farm.
