Welcoming Our Store Manager
Our new store manager is on board. Allow him to introduce himself in his own words:
” Hi, my name is Ryan Whitney, I was born and raised in Chicago. I have worked in grocery retail for 11 years for multiple local and national companies. I have had many roles in retail which have included: juicer, clerk, lead, supervisor, manager, assistant store manager, and store manager. My goal is to bring my skills, dedication, determination, and resiliency to Wild Onion Market, to help make it the best it could possibly be. I still have much to learn, but I am always up for the challenge. I believe that by working together we can achieve the goals and vision for this company. I look forward to going on this journey with the rest of you.”
Ryan is heading up our staffing efforts and will be leading our team of grocery clerks and cashiers. We have received over 300 applications, and we have begun interviews for qualified candidates. Thank you to all who applied!

T-Shirts Are Back
As a newly active member, I wanted one of those cool Wild Onion T-shirts, but there were none to be had. Just in time for summer, they’re back. For a limited time, you can order a T-shirt to celebrate our opening. Effortlessly promote the coop wherever you go Shirts are available in several colors and a variety of sizes. There’s even a new tie-dye option!
Shirts will be available to order online through May 31st. They will be shipped directly to you within 2-3 weeks.

It’s All Coming Together for Our June 12 Opening
Equipment and supplies continue to come in. Teresa and Chris are happy to receive and place shelving, bulk scoops, U-boats and other items we need to operate the store.
Volunteers (Still) Needed
Help us grow the coop to make sure it lasts. There have been several groceries at our location. They no longer exist. We want a better outcome Therefore, we are planning to publicize the coop at the Evanston Farmer’s Market on Saturdays, Glenwood Sunday Market, beginning June 2nd, and at Metra and CTA Red Line stations in Rogers Park.

Congratulations to the Food Shed!
Wild Onion isn’t the only coop opening after many years of persistent effort. The Food Shed opened in Woodstock, Illinois last week. Two of our very first owners went up to their opening.
