7007 N. Clark Update

My name is Kristin Alexander and, along with Kim Stover, I have been volunteering countless hours over the past 15 months managing everything related to our site selection and store build out. As a social worker and physical therapist respectively, we have learned more than we ever imagined about grocery store equipment, design and construction! If you’ve driven by the site recently, you will have seen exterior work and interior demolition have begun. We have our building permit and are ready to start construction, we just need to raise more capital. We are so close! Please help us bridge this gap by making a tax-deductible donation. Any amount you can give will help get the store open as soon as possible.

Feel free to email me with any building questions. Happy Thanksgiving!

– Kristin

Women-Led Design & Construction

We are continuing to highlight our women-led team! Last newsletter, you met our designers and construction manager. Today, allow us to introduce our architect, Megan Harte, from 845 Design Group, based in LaGrange.
As you can see from her photo above, Megan is passionate about supporting local farmers and has been an active volunteer with Prairie Food Co-op, which will be opening in Lombard soon. Megan is extremely creative and thorough, and has been a joy to work with. We feel very lucky to have her on our team!
When asked why she likes working on our project, Megan responded as follows: “The seven co-op principles are closely aligned with my approach to design and architecture, making collaboration with co-ops a natural client fit for me.”

Please join in our effort to raise the money needed to continue construction and open your store! You can find out more here or by writing to invest@wildonionmarket.com.

Tax Deductible Donations

Did you know that…
  1. your donation this giving season is tax-deductible?
  2. every dollar contributed to the co-op goes directly toward building our grocery store?
  3. once we raise the funds and build our store the co-op will be a self-sustaining business?
For these reasons, and many more, make Wild Onion Market your choice for this year’s Giving Tuesday, Nov 29th!

Building a cooperative grocery store in our community means more local jobs, better local infrastructure, and a stronger community economy. We’re fed up with large grocery chains raising prices for better profits while leaving our local farmers and producers out in the cold. We’re tired of extractive policies which leave our neighborhoods reliant on one corporate option for groceries. We’re taking action!

Let’s raise $80,000 by Giving Tuesday, Nov 29th. All the Giving Tuesday funds will pay for the exterior construction and signage. What does that mean? It means this…
BEFORE…

AFTER we raise $80,000 by Giving Tuesday!

Our goal this Giving Tuesday is $80,000 — just $80,000 to contribute to the vision of Clark Street as a neighborhood gathering place, anchored by a community cooperative where farmers, producers, and locals are celebrated.
