Costume Contest: We Dressed as Wild Onions

The winner of this year’s Wild Onion Costume Contest is….Rachel!

Our fabulous, delightful, and creative cashier has out-done us all in our “dress as an onion” costume contest for Halloween! She even hand-made her wild onion earrings! Check out this talented fiber artist’s work Tool Box Earth— some of her weavings will be part of our November raffle! Using old bike tire rims and scrap fabrics, Rachel’s art is a meditation practice that epitomizes sustainability and resource reuse!

Halloween Harvest

Trick or treat?! While we hope you enjoy munchin’ on some Halloween goodies this weekend, we have a hearty harvest of local fruits and veggies to balance out all the sweets. Mick Klug Farm is keeping us stocked up on cranberries—packed with antioxidants and vitamins that boost urinary health. Brussel sprouts (Joyful Harvest Organics) are rich in sulforaphane, plus Vitamin C. Winter Koginut Squash (Persimmon Ridge Farm) is your natural source of beta-carotene, potassium, and magnesium. Carrots for Vitamin A and eye health. And hand-crafted apple cider….good for the soul, just because it’s delicious!

We wish you all a happy, healthy, and safe Halloween!

Handmade Pasta with Nourishing Notes

We had the honor of learning how to hand-make pasta from Julie of Nourishing Notes this weekend! Every shape—we made Cavatelli and Pici noodles—has a story and rich family history behind it. Julie shared tales from her travels across Italy and her family’s heritage of pasta making.

It was a true delight to learn from pasta-enthusiast Julie! We hope to have her back soon!
