Pumpkin Spice Season is Upon Us
|
| Time to amp up every meal with the cozy, sweet, and undeniably autumnal flavors of pumpkin, cinnamon, clove, and maple! Nothing like a warm kitchen that smells deliciously spiced and sweet—check out this week’s recipe for inspiration, and be sure to grab some New England pie pumpkins from Saratoga Homestead to complete the recipe!
Our favorite rural Wisconsin-based maple syrup source is back! For multiple generations and since 1945, Pittman Maple Farms has been serving up only the very best Grade A maple syrup purified with wood-fired heat that makes for its lovely, unique flavor. Scroll down for a special recipe to use with their syrup!
Plus, we have curly and Tuscan kale from Bee Cool Honey Farm, Bravo (purple daikon) radishes from Knapp Family Farms, and delicious local eggs from Abundant Pastures, Iyabo Farms, Honegger Fowl Farms, Owl Hollow Farm, and Prairie Meadow Farm. We’re proud to offer such high quality eggs from many of our local farmers! |

Cozy Spicy Cookies
Time for our featured vendor of the week! These cookies are FIRE. But actually—El Shér cookies are bringing heat to the snack aisle with Thai chillies, sweet paprika, turmeric, and pepper folded into these delicious and delicate treats.
When we spoke with El Shér’s founder Sandeep—a Rogers Park local—he shared his love of the multitude of cuisines and communities that make up this neighborhood. His homage to them all is his little secret on the inside of the box, where “the lion” is written in Hindi, Korean, Ethiopian, Sinhalese, Chinese, and more. El Shér means “the lion” and is a mash-up of Spanish and Hindi to honor its namesake—his oldest son Leon—who is growing up in a Mexican-Indian household.
A perfectly delightful backstory for a superb cookie (maybe our new favorite snack?!). Dip one in your morning tea or coffee for a little heat to get the fall day going. |
