Donate

Wild Onion Market accepts donations which will fund securing a site for our community owned grocery store. All donations are tax-deductible!

We are building the Wild Onion Market food cooperative because we can do more together than on our own. Your contribution will help to accelerate our efforts to open the doors to a full-service grocery store! Donations can be any size, and will make a big difference in our work to transform ownership of our food system, so all people can afford healthy locally produced food.

The Wild Onion Market co-op is not a 501c(3), so we have partnered with Cooperative Development Fund who will act as our fiscal agent allowing us to offer tax deductible donation options. They have worked with many other co-ops across the country for this purpose.

Here’s how it works:

Make your check out to Cooperative Development Fund of CDS
Mail donation to Wild Onion Market, P.O. Box 607262, Chicago, Il 60660
Upon receipt, you will receive a thank you note, as well as a receipt for your donation.

What’s a Co-op?

WE AREN’T JUST COMMITTED TO OUR COMMUNITY — WE’RE OWNED BY IT.

A cooperative (co-op) is a values-driven business, which makes it different from other grocery stores. We are community-owned, which allows us to send our profits directly back to our members, our store, and to the community we serve. Because of this, we can remain committed to a triple bottom line: the economic, social and environmental responsibilities that shape our co-op from the ground up.

Our Core Values

We are an intentionally inclusive community with the following core values:
a

Healthy food access for all

Fresh, healthy food is a right, not a privilege. We are creating policies to ensure that our food supply is affordable, fresh, pesticide-free and nutritious.
a

A resilient local food system

Our farmers and producers will be more then vendors — they will be family. We strive to help bring economic prosperity to rural communities that are part of our regional food shed.
a

Environmental stewardship

We desire to lessen our impact on the planet. From our supply chain to waste disposal to energy consumption, we will make it easier for shoppers to live green.
