Familiar Farms, Fresh Greens
|
| There’s a new farmer in store this week! Welcome Lake Breeze Organics, a certified organic farm based out of Benton Harbor, Michigan. Familiar to many of you, Lake Breeze is a staple of the Evanston Farmer’s Market. Check out their tender bok choy that just came in this week!
And, we have some verdant veggies—kohlrabi, romaine and frisée lettuce, and green curly kale—all grown in Silver Creek Farms’ hydroponic greenhouse in Ladd, Illinois.
From forest-to-fork, Tree Range Farms is back from hibernation! If you missed them this winter, that’s because their commitment to regenerative and ecosystem-conscious practices means their chickens are raised seasonally in Minnesota. Tree Range chicken wings, drumsticks, thighs, and bone-in, skin-on breasts can now be found in the meat cooler near aisle 2! |

Meet Women-Owned Businesses!
|
Next weekend, join us for a Women’s History Month gathering to celebrate and meet some of the women-owned businesses who are bringing nourishing and delicious goods to our community! We’re so excited to have vendors like SydPlayEat, Tasting India, Nemi Sticks, Grandma Fannie’s, Sol Food Natural Soaps, Miicki’s Sweets, and Katherine Anne Confections with us in person.
During the event, we’ll also hear from a special speaker who has dedicated her career to women’s advocacy and empowerment. Can’t wait to see you there!

Featured Woman-Owned Business
|
| Women-owned businesses are the backbone of our local food economy! Since March is Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating some of the women-owned businesses you can find at Wild Onion Market.
You’ll love everything from SydPlayEat, whose degree in nutrition inspired her to find clean and delectable flavors to keep her father’s meals interesting, but healthy, during his battle with cancer. SydPlayEat crafts gourmet condiments that make every bite more fun! |

| Recipe of the Week
This week’s recipe was submitted by Owner #709! Using the fresh collard greens we’ve had in stock, this white bean and collard green soup comes together in just 15 minutes. Tip: serve it with some fresh sourdough and shredded parmesan…yum! |
|
| We’re already getting ready for April! Check out some of the fun events we have coming up and add them to your calendar! |
| One of our favorite local, woman-owned small businesses—Someday Sourdough—will be sharing some of her delicious homemade doughnuts, bundt cakes, cookies, and breads at pop-up bake sales on April 3 & 4 (until she runs out)! Baker Ania B. uses high-quality, fresh ingredients for her mostly-vegan and refined-sugar-free bakes! |
| If you missed our first Fermentor Friday, we’re back in April to talk about living liquids like kefir and kombucha! Novice, master, or totally new—all fermenters are welcome to learn, support, and experience new ways of fermenting. Bring your ideas, your jars, and your latest fermentation projects to share! |
| Come one, come all! Bring your knitting, crocheting, stitching, weaving, and other crafts (at any stage of completion) to the Stitching Circle and create alongside other fellow local fiber artists! |
| Since the very first Earth Day in 1970, April 22 has been a day to recognize the importance of our planet and to advocate for, rally around, and spread awareness for ways to caretake our global home. At an Earth Day Celebration, hear from our community members about how they practice care and stewardship of the Earth, plus tips for cultivating your own green thumb! |
